Where is CM Punk?

A few weeks ago, something unusual happened: "The Voice of the Voiceless" lost his voice.
It had been a little more than 14 days since his defeat at the hands of The Undertaker at WrestleMania in a valiantly fought loss — hardly a trouncing by any means — that no one in the WWE Universe thought any less of Punk for, even though he had it coming. But the defeat seemed to have taken a profound toll on the former WWE Champion all the same, and in a way even losing his 434-day title reign to The Rock had. Seeming at first to struggle with his words, the man who claimed to turn the microphone into a lethal weapon simply closed his mouth after a few moments, hugged his friend Paul Heyman and walked away.
Since then, Punk has gone virtually radio silent. Apart from a few sightings at various major-league ballparks and one UFC event, nobody seems to have seen hide or hair of The Second City Saint since he abdicated his chosen pulpit and sulked away into the shadows. Paul Heyman has, for the time being, at least, shifted his focus to Brock Lesnar’s preparation to face Triple H at Extreme Rules. The WWE Universe, meanwhile, has been left to wonder what’s become of Punk and, more importantly, whether a WWE ring will ever see him again.
As to the former question, Punk’s Twitter account has proved a somewhat helpful source of information. The Second City Saint has been fairly active in self-imposed exile, tweeting images from his primo spots in the stands at the games he’s been attending. So he’s hardly sitting at home washing his tights; at least it’s confirmation that CM Punk is somewhere out there in the world. Still, unless you’re planning on staking out various stadiums in the greater Chicago area (or unless you’reChael Sonnen), odds of rubbing shoulders with The Straight Edge Superstar appear remarkably slim.
As for whether he’s returning to the ring, that’s where the matter gets hairier …

Shawn Michaels to drive official pace car at NRA 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series

The Showstopper is now the Showstarter.
Less than a week after WrestleMania, where Shawn Michaels stood in the corner of longtime friend Triple H in his match against Brock Lesnar — and delivered a resounding Sweet Chin Music superkick to a slippery Paul Heyman — the WWE Hall of Famer is set to drive the official pace car at the NRA 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas.
This Saturday, Michaels will join the ranks of actor Vince Vaughn and former Texas Rangers pitcher C.J. Wilson as only the third celebrity in the history of the Texas Motor Speedway to earn this distinction. However, Michaels argues that the honor is all his, and owes it to his friendship with President of Texas Motor Speedway, Eddie Gossage. “Some time ago, he reached out to me through 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin because Eddie knew I was a NASCAR fan,” the WWE Hall of Famer said. “But honestly, this time, I begged him to let me do something at this race. The NRA and NASCAR are two organizations I wholeheartedly support.”
HBK won’t be the only Michaels family member stepping behind the wheel this week. His son Cameron, who won the Winter Series Championship earlier this year, is competing in the Battle at the Big Top at Lil’ Texas Motor Speedway during the NRA 500 race week.
“I guess I’m reaping what I sowed with my parents,” said Michaels. “He’s gotten into some wrecks, he’s banged up against the wall and had other cars run into him. But I’ll tell you what, he’s fearless.”
Aside from Cameron, whom else is Michaels cheering for on Saturday? “I support all of Hendrick Motorsports. They were so kind to my family the first time we went to a NASCAR event. So we’re cheering for all of those guys, but also Tony Stewart and of course, Carl Edwards, who has always been such a big supporter of WWE and is just a class act.”
Tickets to see Shawn and Cameron, and the 43-car field this weekend are still available atwww.texasmotorspeedway.com.

John Cena receives first-ever 300th Wish Award

GLENDALE, Ariz. — John Cena became the first recipient of the 300th Wish Award Thursday night at the Evening of Excellence held by Make-A-Wish!
With more than 300 wishes and counting, the WWE Superstar was honored for granting more wishes than anyone else in Make-A-Wish history. He was presented the award by wish mom, Judith, whose late son, Justin, was the second Wish child Cena ever met.
Cena granted his record-breaking 300th wish to Jonathan Littman, 7, in June, an honor that was also celebrated on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” (MORE | JONNY'S CHALLENGE) He has been personally granting wishes for more than eight years.
The awards celebration honored wish kids and celebrity wish granters who have achieved special milestones with the organization. Aside from Cena’s 300th Wish Award, other honors given out were the Infinite Wish Award, the Power of One Award and the Chris Greicius Award, which Cena won in 2009.
Honorees included celebrities who have granted 200 wishes, such as singer Katy Perry and singer/actress Selena Gomez — who delivered taped messages at the event — and Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Scott Brooks, who was in attendance.

THE SHIELD

The group was formed on November 18, 2012, at the Survivor Series pay-per-view, when the debuting Ambrose, Reigns and Rollins interfered in the main event, a triple threat match between champion CM PunkJohn Cena and Ryback for the WWE Championship. They powerbombed Ryback through the announce table, allowing Punk to pin Cena to win the match and retain his title. [1]
The group would reveal that it was called "The Shield" and vowed to rally against "injustice" in the WWE. Despite claiming that they were not working for CM Punk or Paul Heyman, over the next few weeks on both Raw and SmackDown they would routinely emerge from the crowd to attack Punk's adversaries such as Ryback, The MizKane and Daniel Bryan, who had attempted to save Kane. They also attacked Randy Orton after he defeated Brad Maddox; Maddox was the referee who helped Punk defeat Ryback during their Hell in a Cell match for the WWE Championship. This led to a their first sanctioned fight at the upcoming TLC pay-per-view, facing Ryback andTeam Hell No (Kane and Bryan) in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match, which they won.[2][3][4][5][6]
After TLC, despite continuing to attack Punk's and Maddox's adversaries in Ric Flair and Brodus Clay, the Shield soon expanded their ambushes to other faces, such as Tommy DreamerRicardo Rodriguez and Sheamus.[7][8][9] The Shield's attacks were also used to write off wrestlers from television via injury angles, in the case of Randy Orton and Sin Cara, both of whom who were already suffering from legitimate injuries.[10][11]

Steve Austin

Steve Austin (born December 18, 1964),[1] better known by his ring name "Stone Cold"Steve Austin, is a television actor, producer, and retired professional wrestler signed toWWE in a Legends deal. Austin wrestled for several well-known wrestling promotions such as World Championship Wrestling (WCW), Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and most famously, the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Described by WWE (formerly the WWF) chairman Vince McMahon as the most profitable wrestler in the company's history,[2] he gained significant mainstream popularity in the WWF during the mid-to-late 1990s as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, a disrespectful, beer-drinking antihero who routinely defied McMahon, his boss.[3] This defiance was often shown by Austin flipping offMcMahon and incapacitating him with the Stone Cold Stunner, his finishing move.[4]McMahon inducted Austin into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009.
Austin held twenty five championships throughout his professional wrestling career, and is a 6-time WWF Champion as well as the fifth Triple Crown Champion. He was also the winner of the 1996 King of the Ring tournament, as well as the 19971998 and 2001 Royal Rumbles. He was forced to retire from in ring competition in early 2003 due to a series of knee and neck injuries . Throughout the rest of 2003 and 2004, he was featured as the Co-General Manager and "Sheriff" of Raw. Since 2005, he has continued to make occasional appearances. In 2011, Steve Austin returned to WWE to host the reboot of the reality series Tough Enough.
